  * Note Revised 7/2009
Top priority is to breed Pure Bred Biewers with
Confirmation, Good Health & Loving Temperament

As a club, we feel that the future of the breed could be in serious danger if new lines are not added to the Biewer a la pom pon. This relatively new breed is very closely line / inbred and a small amount of pedigree research will quickly show that if new lines are not introduced, the breed will bottleneck before given enough time to really blossom. Our members are left to decide for themselves whether they wish to breed Biewer to Biewer or to breed back to the Yorkshire provided that they comply with the club rules regarding the addition of new lines. While many others choose to either purchase new dogs from these types of breedings or practice these breedings behind closed doors, we feel it is important to closely monitor all breedings that are done to introduce a new line and to share the information and outcome with our members. The practice of breeding back to the Yorkshires is still practiced by many of the breeders in Germany. While we do have the option of purchasing puppies from these breedings, we feel that by following this practice ourselves, we are better able to document the results and will be able to show accurate records regarding the establishment of the breed and the new lines developed within the U.S.
